ssociate Members play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the Marple Tree Commission. While the Tree Commission is limited in the number of appointed members (5) that it can have, there is no limit on the number of Associate Members.

Most Associate Members  attend the monthly meetings of the Tree Commission; however, regular attendance is not required. They take on a variety of tasks including but not limited to the following:

  • regular monitoring of newly planted trees in a park,
  • supervising the planting of trees (Tree Tenders or equivalent training is required),
  • designing and installing displays at the Library and other public spaces,
  • typing and mailing letters of invitation, thank you notes, etc.
  • consulting on the status of a tree’s health (must be trained as an arborist),
  • planning Arbor Day reception and overseeing the provision of refreshments,
  • planning and overseeing the Tree Committee’s participation in community events,
  • overseeing publications,
  • planting and watering trees, and
  • jobs that are yet to unfold.
