Rich and Pat Paul received a Stewardship Award on May 9, 2011, for their Japanese Snowbell tree (Styrax japonicus) located in the front of their home on School House Lane in Marple Township. The tree is a broad, rounded, spreading tree reaching 30′ in height and width. Its flowers, which hang in clusters, are downward facing, slightly fragrant, white bells. It blooms May to early June and likes to grow in full sun, but will take a little shade. It is quite trouble-free.
