Vincent and Stephanie Latchford received the Tree Commission’s Tree Stewardship Award in November 2010 for “helping to restore Marple’s Community Forest”. They removed a dead tree on their property on Jamestown Road and replaced it with two trees, a Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) and a Silver/White Maple (Acer saccharinum). Vincent and Stephanie did an excellent job of correctly planting the trees; the root flares are at the surface and the layer of mulch around the base of each tree is not piled too high. The picture of the trees was taken in January 2012. They appear to be thriving.
